Firethorn (Pyracantha coccinea)
Plant type: Flowering and fruiting perennial evergreen shrub with thorns.
Flowers / fruits / cones / seeds / nuts: Small white flowers that bloom in bunches in early summer and turn to bright red-orange berries in the fall.
Attracts: Birds, bees, pollinators
Reproduction / propagation : sowing, cuttings, layering
Growth pattern: Plant grows towards the sun, diagonally. Good for trellis and climbing designs, this shrub will spread out over ground covering. The diagonal growth combined with the weight of berries means that if given the opportunity, especially after long periods of rain that result in heavy wet limbs, it will touch down and establish new root systems in spots where the plant is touching the ground.
Size: 4-10 in.. can grow up to 16 feet tall and wide.
Plant cuttings / propagations are harvested upon order. Photos show parent plants, some are rooted already, some will require time to develop as an individual. Some cuttings will be smaller and require time to grow full size. Please allow 1-2 weeks if fully rooted, or 6-8 weeks if propagated upon order.
